In addition to being a hotelier, Jordi Clos is an Egyptologist, collector and patron of art. He chairs the Clos Archaeological Foundation and the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona, the largest private collection of Egyptian art in Europe on display to the public, and has also financed archaeological excavations in Egypt for more than twenty years.

Along with its exotic collection of ancient African and Oriental art, the Great Derby exhibits an extensive contemporary art collection, made up of works by some of the most internationally recognised Catalan artists.

Lithographs, serigraphs, watercolors and engravings by artists of the same stature and skill as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Joan Hernández Pijuan, Modest Cuixart, Joan Brossa, Javier Mariscal, Wilfredo Lam and Antoni Tapies are part of the exquisite decoration of the hotel rooms. The breakfast room is the space reserved for Josep Maria Guinovart's creations.
